Udhampur girls shine in district-level sports meet

UDHAMPUR, May 24: The District Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Department Udhampur inaugurated the District-Level Inter-School/Inter-Zone Girls’ Sports Meet with great enthusiasm and participation from over 240 girl athletes across nine zones. Romesh Chander Mishra served as chief guest during inaugural event and inspired the participants with a motivating address, urging them to embrace fitness and a drug-free lifestyle under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat” campaign.
In the competitive events of the District-Level Girls’ Sports Meet held in Udhampur, Zone Ramnagar emerged as the champion in both Under-14 and Under-17 Volleyball, with Zone Udhampur securing the runner-up position in both categories. In Fencing Under-17 Girls, the winners were Mannasvi (Epee) from Little Angel Flower School, Ashwathi (Foil) from APS Udhampur and Alankrita (Sabre) also from APS Udhampur – all representing Zone Udhampur. In the Under-14 Fencing category, Miraya Sharma of APS Udhampur (Zone Udhampur) won in Sabre, Priyanshi from RK Public School (Zone Tikri) claimed the Foil title and Utkarsha of India Kids (Zone Udhampur) secured gold in Epee. Additionally, trials for kickboxing and boxing were conducted, drawing enthusiastic participation from aspiring combat sports athletes across the district.
