JAMMU, April 11: Neelam Devi from Latti area of Udhampur district secured a bronze medal in the 7th Junior National Boxing Championship, which concluded in Nagpur, Maharashtra today.
Her performance at the national-level event highlights the emergence of sporting talent from remote regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Neelam, who hails from a rural background, has shown determination and discipline in pursuing boxing despite limited resources.
She has been trained under Coach Rajneesh Kumar, whose guidance played a key role in her preparation and success at the championship. Her accomplishment is being seen as a positive sign for the growth of boxing in the Udhampur district and nearby areas.
The J&K Amateur Boxing Association acknowledged the achievement. Prof Dr Ashutosh Sharma, former president of the Olympic Association, Dr Nirmolak Singh, president JKABA, and Rajan Sharma, honorary general secretary JKABA, noted the significance of her medal at a national event.
