JAMMU, July 26: The U-23 Men and Women J&K UT Wrestling Championship concluded in style at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, after two days of intense and spirited competition among participants from various districts.
The event brought together budding wrestling talent across weight categories. The closing ceremony was graced by Hira Lal Abrol, a renowned social worker and religious writer/singer, who attended as the chief guest.
The results of the event were: In the men’s 57 kg category, Anil Singh secured 1st place, followed by Ankit Choudhary in 2nd and Mohd Aslam in 3rd. In the 61 kg category, Matter Singh claimed 1st place, Wakeel Singh came 2nd, and Biniay Been finished 3rd. The 65 kg category saw Keshav Singh emerge as the winner, with Kulwinder Singh and Pyar Singh taking 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. In 70 kg, Azad Ali took 1st place, Ranbir Singh came 2nd, and Manthan Padiyar secured 3rd. The 74 kg bout was won by Amarjeet, with Salman Choudhary and Shabir Ahmed in 2nd and 3rd places.
Mohd Saqib clinched the 79 kg title, while Mubarak Ali and Gafoor Ahmed followed in 2nd and 3rd. Sunil Singh won the 86 kg category, Mohd Sadeek came 2nd, and Tarun Verma took 3rd. In the 92 kg division, Sajan Singh took the top spot, followed by Abhishek Singh and Maqsood Ahmed. Kulbhushan Nariyana won the 97 kg category, with Mohd Irfan and Fazal Hussain finishing 2nd and 3rd. In the heavyweight 125 kg category, Vikram Singh came out on top, with Jacoob Ali in 2nd and Shahid Umar in 3rd place.
In the women’s 57 kg category, Upasana clinched 1st place, Manvi took 2nd, and Mishti finished 3rd.
