JAMMU, Apr 29: Birla Open Minds International School (BOMIS), Jammu, held the closing ceremony of the Under-17 Inter-School Badminton Tournament for boys and girls, here today. The event saw spirited participation from multiple schools, celebrating sportsmanship and youth empowerment.
Satish Sharma, Minister of Youth Services and Sports, graced the occasion as chief guest. Dr. Panna Manhas Choudhary, Chairperson and Principal Aparna Kohli emphasized BOMIS’s commitment to holistic education and drug-free awareness through sports.
In the finals, Heritage School defeated APS Samba in the boys’ singles match, while APS Samba triumphed over Heritage School in the girls’ doubles.
Meanwhile, BOMIS also felicitated students excelling in various national-level sports: Zuish Saheel, Umair Nissar and Vivek (football); Devasya Sharma (basketball); and Aahana Sharma (cricket). Vardaan Verma won gold in the Wushu state championship, while Kumail, Farhan, Tayab, Wasiq, Shakeel, Atif, Shivansh and Yatish secured medals at state and district levels. Zaad Ziya Wani was honoured for national-level performance in taekwondo.
Winners of the SOF Olympiad and Inter-School Show and Tell competition were also recognized. The event concluded with the inauguration of a new Basketball Court, reinforcing BOMIS’s commitment to sporting excellence.
