UDHAMPUR, Dec 12: The Inter-District UT-Level U-17 Boys Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at Subash Stadium, here today, with great enthusiasm, organized by District Youth Services & Sports (DYSS) Udhampur. The event, featuring teams from 20 districts, will continue till December 16.
Prem Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, presided over the inauguration as chief guest, while Kalpana Jasrotia, Deputy CEO, Udhampur, attended as guest of honour.
ADC Singh stressed discipline, integrity and the importance of staying away from drugs, urging athletes to serve as Youth Ambassadors against Drug Abuse. He also presented a potted plant symbolizing environmental responsibility.
Kalpana Jasrotia commended DYSS for promoting sports and youth empowerment, encouraging players to balance sportsmanship with academics. Selectors from Jammu and Kashmir divisions, including Rajesh Dhar, Narinder Pal Singh and Arshad Bhat, were formally received, along with senior zonal officers, ensuring the competitive integrity of the tournament. DYSS staff, led by Romesh Chander Mishra, coordinated the event.
