JAMMU, Dec 27: Annual 4th Open Inter- District UT level (Men and Women) Tug-of-War Championship, being organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Tug-Of-War Association got underway at Unique Public Higher Secondary School, Gadi Garh, here today.
In all, ten teams in men’s and eight teams in women’s section are taking part in this league-cum-knock out event. The Championship was declared open by General Secretary of the Association S. Jodh Singh Isher.
Earlier, chairman of Unique Public Hr. Secondary School, Gadi Garh, Jammu Jasbir Singh welcomed the gathering and presented a brief note on the competition.
In his note he highlighted the achievements of the Tug-of-War Association.
Prominent among those present were A R Anger (Kashmir), Nirlep Kour (Principal & Vice Chairperson), Jagdish Sharma (Administrator), Ravinder Singh , Gourav Dubey, Neha Chib, Sunil Kumar and Harpreet Kour.
Results: (Men’s Section) Wt 600 kg; Unique Club Gadi Garh, Jammu beat Bahu Fort Club, Jammu by 2-0 sets; Rajouri District beat Samba District by 2-0 sets; Jammu District outplayed Poonch District by 2-0 sets; Kathua District defeated Dashmesh Club Jammu by 2-0 sets and Kashmir Province drubbed Ramban District by 2-0 sets.
Women’s section wt 480 kg, Unique Club Gadi Garh Jammu beat Samba District by 2-0 sets; Jammu District defeated Dashmesh Club by 2-0 sets; Udhampur District beat Bahu Fort Club Jammu by 2-0 sets; Kashmir Province beat Ramban District by 2-0 sets.
The matches were officiated by Gourav Kumar, Sourav Kumar, Sohan Lal, Robin Singh and Kiran Kumari.
