Tip Top SC wins 20th NDS Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament

LEH, May 7: Tip Top Sporting Club lifted the month-long T20 NDS (Nawang Dorjay Stobdan) Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament Cup, here today. As many as 36 teams/club participated in the tournament which was organized by Tip Top Sports and Culture Welfare Society (TTSCWS).
The final match was played between Kashmir Star and Tip Top Club at NDS Sports ground.
Earlier, batting first, Tip Top set the target of 172 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
While chasing the target, Kashmir Star collapsed and fell short of target by 26 runs. Kashmir Star club batsman Washim Ahmed fetched the orange cap for scoring maximum runs while Tip Top spin bowler Kayan got purple cap for taking 19 wickets during the tournament. Tip Top all round performer Phunchok was adjudged as man of the match for scoring 45 runs and taking 2 important wickets.
Minister for Ladakh Affairs and Cooperative, Chering Dorje was the chief guest on the occasion, who in his speech assured to for up-gradation of sports infrastructure and announced Rs 5,00,000 for construction of a store room at the NDS Sports ground.
He appreciated the Tip Top Club for organising the tournament for 20 years continuously to pay tribute to the martyrs.
Ladakh MP Thupstan Chhewang and LAHDC CEC Dr Sonam Dawa also spoke on the occasion.  Announcing Rs one lakh financial assistance to the Tip Top Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), President Tsewang Thinles said that such events  should continue as they serve as a medium to remember martyrs.
He also urged the Hill Council to upgrade the ground for making it conducive to practice and play. Earlier organizing Committee President Kunzang Namgyal presented welcome address and urged the Hill Council to upgrade the sports infrastructure. Former Tip Top Sports Club President, Sonam Jorgais presented the vote of thanks.
