JAMMU, Dec 21: Team work helped formidable Rajasthan Scorchers and clinical Jammu Princess to register wins against their rivals in the ongoing Chief Minister’s T20 Premier League, being jointly organized by J&K Police HG/CD/SDRF and State Sports Council at Parade ground, here.
Bharti Vaid, Chairperson PWWA was the chief guest and Dr Ruby was the guest of honour in the second match, while in the first match earlier, SD Jamwal, IGP Jammu was the chief guest and Nisha Nathyal, SSP Traffic Jammu was the guest of honour.
The dignitaries were introduced with the participating teams in the presence of Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu, SSP Rashmi Wazir, SSP Shabir Malik and Rupali Slathia, ace cricketer and BCCI’s Level-II coach.
On the occasion, Bharti Vaid said that the event apart from providing opportunity to the women cricketers to hone their skill and talent is a step forward towards women empowerment.
Earlier, in the first match Rajasthan Scorchers defeated Chennai Sharks by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Chennai Sharks scored 148 runs. Saima (42), Sunita (29) and Somaya (23) were the main contributors. Pooja and Neha shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Rajasthan Scorchers chased the target in 19.4 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Neha top scored with 54 runs, while Jaya contributed 43 runs to the total. Sheraja took 2 wickets while Kousar claimed 1. Neha was adjudged as the woman of the match for her all-round performance.
In another match, Jammu Princess defeated Kolkata Flamingos by 34 runs.
Batting first, Kolkata Flamingos scored 137 runs in 20 overs. Pooja scored splendid 56 runs, while skipper Rubina and Sarla Devi contributed 30 and 23 runs respectively.
From bowling side, Neeru, Navina and Sapna claimed 1 wicket each. Kolkata Flamingos could not chase the target and made 103 runs, thus lost the match by 34 runs. Diya (35), Elizbath and (29) were the main scorers.
From bowling side, Puja took 3 wickets. Puja Pandey was declared as the woman of the match.
