KATHUA, June 13: The three-day National Volleyball Championship, organized by Bharat Sports Club, Bani, concluded with an electrifying final as Team Lowang emerged champions after defeating Team Bharmota by 3-1. The event, held with crucial support from NHPC’s Sewa-II Power Station, Mashka, showcased exceptional talent and enthusiastic participation.
Bharmota won the toss and selected their side, but Lowang dominated the early game, winning the first two sets convincingly. Bharmota staged a strong comeback in the third set, securing a 9-point victory. However, Lowang held firm in the fourth set, winning by 5 points to seal the championship.
Mohammad Arish was a key player for Team Lowang, delivering an outstanding performance, while Sumit from Team Bharmota was honoured as ‘Man of the Player’ for his consistent play and prior national representation.
The event was graced by MLA Dr. Rameshwar Singh, SDM Bani Sandeep Kumar Sharma, NHPC Senior Manager Ram Singh Mathur, Congress representative Kajal Rajput and J&K Apni Party leader Madan Lal. Dignitaries praised Bharat Sports Club’s role in promoting sports and reiterated the need for a permanent playground to engage youth and combat drug abuse.
