JAMMU, Oct 3: The competitions of Elocution and Poetry Recitation were conducted today during the ongoing ‘Display Your Talent’, being organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, here today.
Dean Students Welfare, Prof Satnam Kour awarded the winners of the events and informed that tomorrow, Folk Dance competition will be organized at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, followed by valedictory function.
In Elocution competition, students were given the topics of high relevance like pollution, harmony, women empowerment, global warming etc. Around 40 students participated in the event out of which Tahir Hafiz from The Department of Zoology, JU stood first, Amitesh Tiwari from SPMR College of Commerce and Prateek Sharma from GGM Science College stood second and third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Kunal Saini from GGM Science College, Faisal from Government MAM College, Akhter Hussain Azad from GDC Boys Udhampur and Digvijay Singh from Department of Chemistry, JU.
Dr Vishav Raksha was the Teacher Incharge and Prof Lalit Magotra, Chanchal Dogra and Indu Kilam were the judges of the event.
In Poetry Recitation, 60 students participated who recited various self-written and other poems who have been written by eminent poets and scholars. The first prize was won by Ravinder Kumar from The Department of English, JU, Seerat Baji from GCW Gandhi Nagar got the second prize and the third position was secured by Asha Devi from GDC Ramnagar. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Sugandhi from The Department of History, JU, Animesh Tiwari from SPMR College of Commerce and Sanchit Raina from Govt. MAM College.
Dr Chandra Shekhar was the Teacher Incharge and Vidya Ratan Aasi, Prof Lalit Magotra and Vijaya Thakur were the judges of the event.
The event was coordinated by Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer and Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instr-uctor under the supervision Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Chairman Campus Culture Committee and Dr AR Manhas, Assistant Dean SW.
Kirti, Radhika, Anjali, Sonakshi, Sameeta, Varnika, Sunakshi, Deepika, Abhishek and Puneet did the hall management. The sound was operated by Kulbhushan Thakur.
