POONCH, Dec 23: A two-day Taekwondo Championship under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan commenced today at Poonch Taekwondo Academy. Organised by the Poonch Taekwondo Club under the aegis of the District Poonch Taekwondo Association, the event features around 200 athletes across Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior and Senior categories for both boys and girls.
The Championship was inaugurated by Ravi Bhushan Sharma, (Retd.) Engineer, PWD, who highlighted the role of sports in keeping youth away from drugs and fostering a disciplined lifestyle. Students showcased excellent Taekwondo skills, impressing dignitaries and the audience.
Rajinder Singh, Taekwondo coach and founder of martial arts in Poonch, was also lauded for his contribution to promoting youth engagement in sports.
All matches are being technically supervised and officiated by experienced referees, including Mansha Bashir, Muzaffar Ahmed and Inayat Hussain Dar from the Kashmir Division, along with Vanshika Sharma, Vishnu Raina, Vishvas Sudan, Amakesh Kumar and Qasim Hussain, ensuring fair play and maintaining high standards throughout the Championship.
