JAMMU, July 27: The 22-member Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Swimming Team was flagged off today by MLA Bahu, Vikram Randhawa. The flag-off ceremony took place in the presence of J&K Swimming Association President Ramandeep Singh Soodan, General Secretary Bharat Kumar Sharma, coaches Babita Jamwal, Jangvir Singh Sambyal, Pratul Singh and parents of the participating swimmers.
The contingent will represent J&K in two national-level events: the 51st Junior National Aquatic Championship to be held from August 3 to 7 at Naranpura Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, Gujarat and the 41st Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship, scheduled from August 4 to 5 at Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Both events are being held under the aegis of the Swimming Federation of India.
The Jammu and Kashmir UT Swimming team comprises 22 talented swimmers across three age categories. In the junior-I (15-17 years) group, the selected swimmers are Aditee Aditya Bargotra, Tegmeet Kour, Vihan Goel, Sohum Pathania, Saksham Sharma and Pryansh Singh. The Junior-II (13-14 years) category includes Musa Pervaiz Malik, Aryan Parbhakar, Prgnay Sharma, Ayaansh Gupta, Advait Sharma, Mayra Thakur, Anahita Gupta and Manha Pervaiz Malik. In the Sub-Junior (11-12 years) group, the team features Daayvik Gupta, Riyan Gupta, Pratyaksh Vir Parmar, Samar Pratap, Saisha Gupta, Jeena Kour Sudan, Sharanya Jandayal and Hargun Kour Khalsa.
