JAMMU, Dec 27: In a pioneering initiative to bring Jammu’s restored heritage into public consciousness, the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu and Kashmir, organized its first-ever motorcycle rally-an inspired blend of history and horsepower.
The initiative was conceptualized and led by journalist and heritage enthusiast Sunny Dua, with the aim of showcasing the Government’s sustained efforts to protect and revive forgotten historical sites.
The rally was formally flagged off by Principal Secretary, Culture, Brij Mohan Sharma, from Kala Kendra. Twenty-two seasoned riders from Shakti Udghosh and the Xtreme Motorcycle Riders Club participated, riding a 35-kilometre stretch that culminated at the tranquil Bamuchak Temple.
Representing their respective clubs, Preety Chowdhary and Sameer led the riders with enthusiasm and purpose. Beyond the thrill of the ride, the rally served a larger mission: to draw attention to heritage sites that, despite careful restoration, remain largely unnoticed by the general public, tourists, and even heritage lovers.
One such meticulously revived site, located near the international border, was brought into focus-standing as a powerful testament to the region’s layered history and cultural richness.
The event marked a meaningful step towards reconnecting people with their past, proving that sometimes, all it takes is a different route and a roaring engine to bring history back into the spotlight.
