JAMMU, May 30: The event ‘Sanskar Se Pragati Tak’, held at the International Daily Rising School (IDRS), Jammu, created a heartfelt space where students and senior citizens came together to celebrate shared values, wisdom, and stories. It was an inspiring example of how meaningful connections across generations can strengthen communities and bring people closer.
The event was organised through the joint efforts of ‘Sanskar Se Pragati Tak’ International Daily Rising School, and the Skill Incubation Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (SIIEDC), University of Jammu. The day began with a visit to the Amar Mahal Museum, where students and elders explored Jammu’s cultural heritage together.
This was followed by engaging activities at IDRS – including interactive games, storytelling, conversations, and a shared meal – all designed to encourage meaningful dialogue between youth and elders.
The programme offered a blend of storytelling, enthusiasm, kindness, life lessons, and a deep celebration of Jammu’s cultural richness. What made the event even more impactful was the presence of elderly guests from a local shelter home, including Darshna Devi, Shashi Masi, Bala Devi and Rakesh Mohan. Their participation added real depth and purpose to the initiative, turning it from an idea into an act of genuine care and inclusion.
The event was coordinated by a team of students – Sarnish Kour, Bhoomi Samnotra, Malhaar Khadyal, Divya Verma and Suhani Behl – with Sarnish Kour serving as the anchor of the ceremony.
Several respected dignitaries attended the event, including: Dr Atul Hans, Principal, IDRS Jammu, Teacher Charanpreet Kaur, State Awardee (2018) and Founder, Help – The Ray of Hope, Prof. Anil Gupta, Course Mentor and Prof. Alka Sharma, Head of Department, University of Jammu.
The organisers also expressed their sincere thanks to Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, and Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman and Chair, J&K Higher Education Council, for their encouragement and ongoing support in making this programme a success. As a gesture of appreciation and environmental awareness, eco-friendly planters were gifted to each dignitary. These planters symbolised growth, care, and a shared commitment to building a greener and more thoughtful future.
Certificates were also presented to the student volunteers – Aliya, Jasmehjot, Zafreen, Snober, Omer, Gourav, Manjot, Shubham, Minal, Navjeet and Radhey – for their hard work and commitment in making the event run smoothly.
