JAMMU, Oct 18: The STAIRS Foundation, recognized as a National Sports Promotion Organization (NSPO) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, organized the District Youth Games prize distribution ceremony at the police auditorium, here today. The event aimed to promote grassroots sports activities and witnessed participation from over 400 young students across various sports and cultural events, including tennis ball cricket, karate, yoga, badminton, art and craft, dance and music.
Key dignitaries who graced the occasion included Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, and Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, who served as chief guests. Joginder Singh, SSP Jammu, attended as the guest of honour, while Sidharth Upadhaya, National President of STAIRS, participated as the special guest. The ceremony was presided over by Rahul Sahai, Chairman of the State Development Board (SDB) of STAIRS J&K, along with key Governing Council members, including Samar Dev Charak, Chaitanya Chowdhary, Atul Hans, Ashish Jain, Sidharth Dogra, Puneet Arora and Raj Dua.
In his welcome address, Rahul Sahai expressed pride in the collaboration between STAIRS and Jammu Police, highlighting how this partnership strengthens community bonds and provides a platform for youth to showcase their talents. He praised the ‘Drug-Free Jammu’ campaign led by Anand Jain, acknowledging the Jammu Police’s efforts in creating a safe environment for youth development.
Anand Jain, along with Shiv Kumar Sharma and Joginder Singh, congratulated the students on their achievements, emphasizing the importance of sports in keeping children engaged and away from the dangers of drug abuse. They noted that sports teach essential qualities such as discipline, teamwork and resilience.
The ceremony culminated in the presentation of gold, silver, and bronze medals to students for their outstanding performances. In closing remarks, Samar Dev Charak encouraged the young achievers to strive for excellence and acknowledged the crucial role of parents in their children’s success. The event highlighted the ongoing commitment of STAIRS and Jammu Police to foster a positive and healthy environment for the region’s youth.
