JAMMU, July 12: St. Peters’ Catholic Church registered win over Bethel Church in the ongoing 2nd Inter-Church Cricket Tournament at Alexander Memorial High School, here today.
The Tournament is being organized jointly by the Christian Sports Organization (CSO) and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Earlier, wining the toss and batting first, Catholic Church-A XI scored a decent total of 110 runs in the allotted 12 overs by losing 4 wickets. Sabestian, Avinash and Vinod contributed 33, 27 and 25 runs to the total respectively. For Bethel Church XI, Bunty took 2 wickets, while Salim and Aman claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Bethel Church XI collapsed at a paltry total of 37 runs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 73 runs. Bunty was the only batsman who reached double figures, scoring 10 runs, while no other batsman could cross the double figure mark. For Catholic Church XI, Nitu Khokher was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets, while Vinod, Sahil,Vishal and Ambrose took one wicket each. Nitu Khokher was declared man of the match for his splendid bowling display.
The match was officiated by Raju and Neeraj as umpire, while Rubain was the scorer.
Pastor Johny Incharge Priest of Bethel Church was the chief guest on the occasion, who was accompanied by Rajesh Gill, president of the Christian Sports Organization.
Bharat Chowdhary, Senior Leader of PDP sponsored cash award of Rs 5000 for the winner of the Tournament.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Asif Gill, Victor Sotra, Prince Subh and Rohan.
Evangical Church will take on Pentecostal Church XI at 7.30 am tomorrow, while St Peters’ Catholic Church will lock horns with Catholic Church-B XI at 11 am.
