JAMMU, Dec 15: St. Mary’s Infant Convent School (SMICS) celebrated its 11th Annual Day with great enthusiasm and pride, presenting a vibrant cultural programme themed “Wings of Wonder.” The event reflected the school’s commitment to holistic education, emphasizing character building, patriotism and academic excellence.
The programme was graced by Padma Shri Dr S P Varma as the chief guest, along with Lieutenant Colonel Sandeep Ranadive and Lieutenant Colonel Alex Sebastian as guests of honour. Renowned social activist and Gandhian thinker Dr Robert Robin Gill attended as the special guest. Chief Education Officer Jammu, Ajeet Sharma, who could not attend due to official commitments, conveyed his best wishes to the school.
The dignitaries were welcomed by Chairperson Anna Mary and Director Anthony Ignatius, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Students enthralled the audience with colourful performances, including a powerful tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and a series of regional dances such as Bhangra, Ladakhi, and Kashmiri folk dance, showcasing India’s unity in diversity.
The guests applauded the school’s efforts in nurturing disciplined, responsible, and compassionate citizens. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal Sheetal Anthony, followed by a joyful Christmas celebration, marking a memorable and inspiring occasion.
