JAMMU, Dec 5: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, Mohan Lal declared open Bawa Jitto Kabaddi Gold Cup, being organized by Shiv Public School at Sari Rakwal, Gho Manasan Road, here today.
The chief guest was accompanied by Managing Director of the School, Shiv Salaria, Chairman Balbir Singh, Balkrishan and Raj Kumar.
A huge gathering of spectators witnessed the matches during the day.
Good number of matches was played on the inaugural day today and the players displayed extraordinary Kabaddi skills to vie for the top honours.
In the first match of the day, Bhartiya Shiksha Kendra Akalpur defeated Kailash Niketan Pounichak by 24 points (32-08), while in other matches Vishwa Bharti Akalpur trounced Wazir Janki Nath Higher Secondary School Rani Bagh by 24 points (44-20), DBP Club RS Pura scripted a narrow win over Tagore Public School Akalpur by 2 points (28-16), Shiv Public School Sari got better of Bhartiya Shiksha Kendra Akalpur, Govt Higher Secondary School Paloura lost to Bhartiya Shiksha Kendra Akalpur by 2 points (38-40), Shiv Public School Sari thrashed Govt Higher Secondary School Paloura by 15 points (50-35) and Green Field-A outplayed Kailash Niketan by 5 points (50-45).
The semifinals and the final match will be played tomorrow, which will be followed by the closing ceremony at the same venue.
