DODA, Oct 29: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta inaugurated a T-20 Women’s Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP 2025-26) at Sports Stadium, Doda, aimed at engaging women youth in constructive activities.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by senior officers, including Addl. SP Headquarters Doda Mohammad Aslam, DySP Headquarters Doda Ajay Anand and DySP DAR Doda Adil Rashu, along with civil society members, media representatives, and spectators.
Six women’s teams are participating in the tournament, played on a league-cum-knockout basis. The opening match saw Green Champs Doda defeating JNV Arnora Doda.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Mehta emphasized promoting youth engagement, especially among women, building confidence and identifying hidden sporting talent. He highlighted the tournament’s role in empowering young women and steering them away from social evils like drug abuse.
