JAMMU, Jan 12: The Inter-District UT Level Softball Championship for Under-19 Girls concluded at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, here today, with District Srinagar lifting the title after defeating District Udhampur by 7-2 runs in the final match.
The championship was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu, under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K UT, Anuradha Gupta. The event was held under the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, Vinakshi Koul and under the overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
The competition aimed at providing a competitive platform to young players to showcase their sporting talent and to identify the best players for future UT-level and national competitions. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 125 players drawn from 10 districts of the Jammu Division, reflecting the growing popularity of softball among young girls.
The tournament was conducted smoothly with the assistance of experienced technical officials and departmental experts including Hardev Singh, Harvinder Singh, Madan Mohan, Amlok Singh, Rakesh Singh, Varinder Singh, Gurbachan Singh, along with other officials of the department.
In the first semi-final, District Udhampur outplayed District Pulwama by 15-1 runs. The second semi-final saw a closely contested match where District Srinagar edged past District Jammu by 15-14 runs.
In the final, District Srinagar displayed an all-round performance to defeat District Udhampur by 7-2 runs, thereby emerging as the champions of the Inter-District UT Level U-19 Girls Softball Championship.
