SRINAGAR, Sept 20: The General Bipin Rawat Memorial Kashmir Hockey League (GBRMKHL) 2025 concluded successfully today at the Astro Turf of the Polo Ground here, with ‘Srinagar Hockey’ emerging victorious.
The final saw Srinagar Hockey defeat Baramulla Reds by 2-0 to lift the trophy.
Played over 15 days, the tournament drew over 3,000 spectators who cheered enthusiastically for their favourite teams.
The closing ceremony marked the culmination of a high-energy tournament that showcased the talent and team spirit of 16 participating teams from across the Kashmir Valley.
The ceremony was graced by Rani Rampal, star player of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team and Padma Shri awardee, as the chief guest.
She felicitated all participants and winners, acknowledging their dedication and performance.
Speaking at the event, Rampal said athletes from Kashmir are hardworking and disciplined and emphasized the need to nurture female talent.
“It is encouraging to see hockey being revived in Kashmir. These players are our future. In the final, both teams played with maturity. There is also a need to focus on female players so they can represent the country,” she said.
Organizers said the league not only showcased athletic excellence but also achieved its broader mission of fostering youth engagement, promoting community integration, and using sport as a tool for personal growth and unity.
A player from Srinagar Hockey announced that the team would be donating the prize money of Rs 1 lakh to the flood victims of Punjab.
