SPMR wins in tie-breaker to enter VC cricket finals

JAMMU, Mar 13: In a thrilling second semi-final of the ongoing VC Cricket Rolling Trophy at the JKCA Ground adjacent to GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce defeated Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ-XI) in a dramatic Super Over after the match ended in a tie.
CLUJ-XI won the toss and chose to field. Batting first, SPMR College scored 136 all out in 19 overs, with Asif Bhat top-scoring with 29 runs and Naresh Kumar contributing 21. For CLUJ-XI, Nageshwar took 2 wickets for 12 runs, Mukesh claimed 3 wickets for 23 runs, and Akash picked 2 wickets for 30 runs.
In reply, CLUJ-XI also scored 136 runs for 10 wickets in 16.3 overs. Sunil scored 32 with five boundaries, captain Ankush contributed 29 with four fours and a six, while Nageshwar added 36, hitting five boundaries and a six. Akash took 4 wickets for 45 runs, and Nazar claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs for SPMR College.
With scores tied, SPMR College emerged victorious in the Super Over to secure a place in the finals. Nageshwar was named Man of the Match. The game was officiated by umpires Deepak Gupta and Manish Sharma, with Prateek Malhotra as scorer and Arti Kapoor as manager. The tournament is conducted under the supervision of Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director of Physical Education & Sports.
