Spinners keep J&K-Kerala U-23 clash tense

JAMMU, Jan 24: Jammu and Kashmir posted 174 in their first innings, edging a slim 9-run lead, as Kerala fought back to 164/5 by stumps in the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy clash at St Xavier’s College Ground, Trivandram today.
J&K skipper Shivansh Sharma top-scored with 45, supported by Udhay Partap’s 38, while Kamaksh’s quick cameo provided momentum. Kerala’s spin duo, JS Anuraj (4/39) and Shoun Roger (3/32), alongside pacer Pavan Raj (2/27), kept J&K in check.
In reply, Ahammed Imran’s unbeaten 68 anchored Kerala’s fightback, with Manav Krishna unbeaten on 15. J&K spinners Sarvashshish Singh (3/32) and Vishal Kumar (2/54) curbed the run flow, maintaining the contest on a knife-edge.
On Day 1, Kerala were dismissed for 165, with Sarvashshish Singh claiming a five-wicket haul. With spinners dominating a turning track, the remaining two days promise a tense, closely-fought finale.
