Speaker felicitates players for raising standard of sports in J&K

JAMMU, Nov 4: J&K players, who have raised the standard of State abroad have been honored by Speaker Dr Nirmal Singh and former Vice Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Farmer Welfare Board, Daljit Singh Chib in a function at Baba Kailkh Dev Temple, which was organized by Baba Kailkh Dev Management Committee.
Shakti Dutt Sharma, Secretary-General of Baba Kailkh Dev Management Committee said that Yogeshwar Sharma is local resident of Raipur-Domana Assembly constituency and brought laurels for State in boxing and has won numerous rewards at international level. He has recently won a prize in the International Boxing Competition held at Thailand and will now participate in the boxing competition being held in Nepal. His coach Harinder Pal Singh was also honored. Sahil Dev, who participated in the competition held in London in Kho-Kho international level competition, was also honored by the dignitaries. Dr Nirmal Singh honored both the players.
Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Dr Nirmal Singh said that youth of State are talented and need to provide opportunities. The Centre and the State Government have provided opportunities to the youth at national and international levels through the Khelo India and several other competitions.
Daljit Singh Chib said that the way Central Government has prepared plans for the rural areas, especially the farmers, they should get benefit.
On the occasion, the newly elected corporators Kuldeep Singh Chib, Kapil Singh Chib and Arun Khanna were also honored.
Rampal Seth, President Baba Kailkh Dev Temple Manage-ment Committee apprised the gathering about the history and belief of the temple.
On the occasion, Mahant Hari Dutt Sharma of Buddha Mandir Zidi, Advocate Adarsh Bhagat, Omi Khajuria, Former Sarpanch Bhupinder Singh, Sunil Dutt Raka, Sahil Seth, Varun Padha, Kuldeep Rana and prominent citizens of the area were present.
