JAMMU, Jan 14: Sparc FC emerged champions of the Platinum Girls Football League after defeating Platinum FC by 2-1 in a thrilling final held at the Home of Legends Turf, Digiana. The league, featuring six teams, marked Jammu’s first structured girls football tournament supported by corporate houses.
The closing ceremony was graced by Avny Lavasa, Secretary Transport, as chief guest, along with Aiaz Qaiser, Joint Director Tourism, Jammu and Ishfaq Ahmed, Head Coach of Real Kashmir FC, as guests of honour.
Individual honours including most goal scorer Prachi, best mid-fielder Hari Priya, best coach Akash Angral, best defender Seema, best striker Tanzeel (Sonu) and best goalkeeper Sharma Priya were awarded to outstanding performers of the tournament.
League organiser Bhisham Batra said the tournament aimed to provide girls with a professional football platform and promote women’s football in the region. The successful conclusion of the league marks a major step forward for grassroots football development in Jammu.
