Sohail, Abhishek, Nikhil, Vidit, Abhi, Rizwan make it to quarterfinals

JAMMU, Sept 5: Six cueists–Sohail Khalid, Abhishek Pathania, Nikhil Kapahi, Vidit Gawri, Abhi Gupta and Rizwan Ahmed outclassed rivals in their respective matches and entered into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Senior Snooker Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
In the first pre-quarterfinal match, Sohail Khalid registered win over Gagandeep Singh by 3-1. In the first frame, Sohail emerged winner by 58-29 and again won the second frame by 58-51. Gagandeep made a comeback in the game by winning the third frame by 68-66 but failed to win the decider frame and lost it to Sohail by 67-39.
Abhishek Pathania smashed Jaswinder Singh by 3-1 in the second pre-quarterfinal match. Abhishek made a good start and won the first frame by 63-34. He again registered win the second frame by 57-28. Jaswinder proved his mettle and won the third frame by 74-40. In the decider frame, Abhishek crushed Jaswinder by 63-26.
In the third pre-quarterfinal match, Nikhil Kapahi outplayed Takdir Singh by straight 3-0 frames. In the first frame, Nikhil registered win by 50-08 and also registered win the second and third frame by 64-29 and 56-20 respectively.
In the fourth pre-quarterfinal played between Vidit Gawri and Nitin Sharma, the former emerged winner by straight 3-0 frames. Vidit registered win over Nitin by 44-34, 70-41 and 72-12.
Abhi Gupta routed Ishan Chowdhary by 3-1 in the fifth pre-quarterfinal match. Abhi won the first frame by 47-32 and the game was equalized by Ishan by winning the second frame by 49-38. Abhi with his marvelous skills won the third and fourth frame by 51-50 and 60-32 respectively and qualified for the quarterfinals.
In the sixth pre-quarterfinal match, Rizwan Ahmed beat Ankit Gupta by 3-1 frames. Rizwan registered win in the first frame by 56-27, but lost the second frame to Ankit by 48-33. Rizwan won the third and fourth frames by 58-48 and 84-41 respectively and sailed into the quarterfinals of the Championship.
