Softball teams receive kits ahead of North Zone C’ship

JAMMU, Feb 10: In a significant boost for sports promotion and athlete support, J&K Softball Association, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, organized a kit distribution ceremony for the Jammu & Kashmir Senior Men and Women Softball teams today. The teams will depart tomorrow for Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, to participate in the prestigious North Zone Softball Championship, where they will represent J&K against top teams from the region.
The ceremony was filled with enthusiasm, as players, officials and well-wishers gathered to motivate the athletes before the championship. Mandeep Singh Rimpy of Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) graced the event as the chief guest. Rajan Singh Happy and Rakesh Khajuria attended as guests of honour. The dignitaries distributed sports kits to the players and wished them success in the upcoming competition.
Chief guest praised the athletes’ dedication and discipline, noting that participation in national-level tournaments reflects the rising standard of softball in J&K. He emphasized the importance of institutional backing and community support to nurture young talent.
Guests of honour Rajan Singh Happy and Rakesh Khajuria encouraged the players to showcase resilience, discipline and focus in the tournament. Waseem Raza Khan, General Secretary of the J&K Softball Association, spoke about the association’s ongoing efforts to promote the sport at various levels, while Pushvinder Singh, General Secretary of the Softball Association District Jammu, emphasized the importance of unity and dedication for success.
The ceremony concluded on a positive note, with everyone expressing confidence that the teams will perform well and continue to elevate the profile of softball in Jammu & Kashmir.
