Simula, KCCC script big victories

JAMMU, June 23: Star-studded Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) and Simula Cricket Club registered big victories over their rivals on the opening day of the KC Sports Club T20 Cricket Cup 2017, which got underway at newly laid turf at KC School ground, here today.
The Tournament, in which 20 teams including some affiliated Clubs of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) are participating, is being organized by KC Sports Club, under the overall supervision of Arjun Choudhary, Member J&K State Sports Council and the matches are being supervised by Sanjeev Sharma, organizing secretary of the Tournament.
Earlier, in the first match played today, Simula Cricket Club defeated International Cricket Club (ICC) by 21 runs.
Batting first, Simula Club scored a modest total of 126 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Satish was the top scorer with 34 runs, while Hardeep Singh and Yuvraj Saini contributed 29 and 28 runs to the total respectively. For ICC, Asif and Nitin bagged 2 wickets each, while Sourav Chopra claimed one wicket.
In reply, ICC managed to score 105 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by 21 runs. Asif was the top scorer with 32 runs, while Rakesh contributed 27 runs and Pavit Singh Ishar chipped in with 12 runs. Ritik was the pick of the bowlers From Simula, who scalped 2 important wickets, while Raman Dutta and Kuldeep Kumar claimed one wicket each. Satish was declared as man of the match.
In another match, KCCC thrashed Strikers XI by 8 wickets.
Batting first, Strikers XI scored a modest total of 115 runs in 19.1 overs. Jimmy played a brilliant innings of 54 runs, while Amit and Anil contributed 27 and 11 runs respectively. For KCCC, Soumay Jain was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 important wickets, while Ramdayal took 3 wickets and Ajay Sudan claimed 2.
KCCC in reply chased the target in 13.1 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Skipper Manik Gupta top scored with quick-fire 40 rus off just 16 balls, studded with 5 fours and 2 sixes, while Jatin Wadhawan and Vimarsh Kaw contributed 35 and 34 runs to the total respectively. For Strikers XI, Vikram and Sachin claimed one wicket each. For his 5-wicket haul, Soumay Jain was adjudged as man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Madan and Vinod Kandyara as umpires, while Sandeep Manchanda was the scorer.
