JAMMU, Dec 15: Shweta Mittal, a renowned runner, cyclist and fitness enthusiast from Jammu, made history by becoming the first woman from Jammu & Kashmir to win the prestigious Procam Slam Marathon title in Kolkata.
The Procam Slam is a distinguished running program that honours amateur runners who complete four consecutive Procam running events: Tata Mumbai Marathon, TCS World 10K Bengaluru, Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, and Tata World 25K Kolkata. To achieve this title, runners must meet specific time requirements in each race category, including completing a marathon in under 6 hours and 30 minutes, an open 10K in under 1 hour 25 minutes, a half marathon in under 3 hours 30 minutes, and a 25K run in under 3 hours 45 minutes.
Shweta demonstrated remarkable perseverance and skill in completing all the events, earning the title of “Procam Slam 2024” Champion. The Tata Steel Kolkata 25K Run saw over 20,000 athletes from across the globe, and Shweta’s achievement stood out as a symbol of determination and athletic excellence.
Shweta has been consistently participating in marathons and athletic events across the country, aiming to inspire youth to embrace sports. “It was a proud moment for me to participate in such an international event. Nothing is difficult if you set your mind to it,” she said.
In addition to this remarkable achievement, Shweta has earned numerous accolades, including being a podium finisher at several prestigious events like the Ironman Duathlon and various marathons.
