JAMMU, Nov 10: Displaying exceptional skill and determination, Shivansh Rajput of Jammu and Kashmir secured a place in the finals of the 45 kg category at 69th National School Games 2025 (Under-19 Boys Taekwondo Championship). The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
On his road to the finals, Shivansh defeated his Tamil Nadu counterpart in the quarterfinals before overcoming Soham Joe of Goa in a thrilling semi-final clash. Earlier, in the -59 kg category, J&K’s Nasir ul Islam clinched the Bronze medal, sharing the podium with a contestant from Gujarat, while Gold and Silver went to competitors from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Assam, respectively.
In the -45 kg first round, Assam beat CBSE, Madhya Pradesh overcame Gujarat, KVS triumphed against Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand defeated Karnataka, Jharkhand overcame Odisha, Bihar edged past Haryana, West Bengal subdued Vidya Bharathi, Tamil Nadu defeated Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh outclassed NVS, Maharashtra beat Telangana, CISE overpowered Punjab, and Goa defeated Uttar Pradesh. Second-round victories included Assam over Delhi, Kerala over Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand over KVS, and Bihar over Jharkhand.
In the -75 kg category, J&K dominated Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal beat Telangana, Uttarakhand defeated Karnataka, Maharashtra triumphed over CBSE, and Gujarat overcame Uttar Pradesh, with other matches proceeding with keen competition.
