Shivani leaves for National Speed Climbing Camp in Bengaluru

JAMMU, June 3: Top Indian sport climber Shivani Charak from J&K has left for Bengaluru to attend an intensive speed climbing training programme organized by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. She is among the five climbers shortlisted for the camp, which aims to prepare the national team for the 2026 international season, including the Asian Games in Japan and World Cups.
Other selected climbers include Shivpreet Pannu (Punjab), Anisha Verma (Tata Steel, Jamshedpur), Ritika Rawat (Delhi) and Joga Purti. Shivani, an Asian Youth Bronze medalist, is notably the first and only female athlete from J&K in 78 years to have competed at the Asian Games, marking a proud milestone for the Union Territory.
