JAMMU, May 7: As part of its efforts to adequately prepare Shivani Charak, who has been selected to represent the country in Sport Climbing in the forthcoming 18th Asian Games to be held at Jakarta and Palembang (Indonesia) from August 18 to September 2, 2018, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu sponsored for her a week long coaching camp at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the apex body for adventure sports in the country.
After her coaching cum practice at International standard walls at IMF, New Delhi, Shivani who left for Delhi today, would directly join the national coaching camp for Indian team at Jamshedpur on May 15, 2018 prior to her participation in the 1st IMF All India Sport Climbing (speed) Competition at the same venue.
It was announced by the Chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Rahul Sharma while felicitating Shivani on her selection in the Indian team for the Asian Championship.
The school would sponsor more such camps at Shivani’s convenience and also provide her any facility in the school premises where she has been training for the last 4 years, to prepare her for a podium finish in the prestigious Asian Championship and thus bring laurels to the state and the country.
Speaking in a simple but impressive function held in the school auditorium Rahul Sharma said that Shivani Charak, who had her training at Switzerland, Italy and Slovenia prior to her participation in the World Cup in 2017, has already brought honour to the state as she has achieved the distinction of being only the 2nd civilian sportsperson of J&K to be selected to represent the country in the Asian Games during the last 70 years.
The school has planned to promote sport climbing in a more vigorous way to produce more such international climbers, he disclosed.
A bouquet was also presented to Shivani by Arti Sharma, Principal of Apple Kids, Bantalab, Jammu.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Shawetica Khajuria, an international Judge of the game and Joint Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K; Ishbilia Handoo, In-charge Co-curricular activities and staff of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Jammu including Neha Sajgotra, Reena Rajput, Sanjogita, Rishu Nehru and Shivani Koul.
