JAMMU, Oct 7: Two sport climbers from Jammu and Kashmir brought laurels to the Union Territory by clinching five medals — including two gold and three silver — at the recently concluded North Zone Sport Climbing Championship held across three venues in Delhi.
International climber Shivani Charak emerged as the standout performer, winning gold medals in lead and speed climbing and a silver in bouldering in the women’s category. In lead climbing, Shivani edged out Anvi Girish Mudgal (representing Delhi) with a faster timing of 2.18 minutes versus Anvi’s 5.17. She followed it up with a dominant gold in speed climbing and a silver in bouldering despite limited recent practice.
Arun Deep Singh also impressed in the men’s category, securing two silver medals in lead and speed climbing. The championship was organised by the IMF North Zone Committee, with events hosted at IMF, Climbing Centre and Boulder Box, New Delhi.
