JAMMU, Feb 20: Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nagar celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day today with grandeur. The event was graced by Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta as chief guest. Guests of honour included Bharat Bhushan, Convener Tourism Cell BJP and Vice-Chairman Jammu Cantonment Board, Rachit Khosla, Neha Nanda and Paramjeet Singh Raina.
The programme began with the welcoming of guests and grandparents, followed by lamp lighting and a tribute to Founder-Principal Late Dev Dutt Mengi by Principal Rameshwar Mengi, Trustee Rita Mengi, Director Pushp Vatika Risheek Mengi, Director RMPS Rakshan Mengi, Managing Committee Member Kashish Mengi, Headmaster Harish Sharma and wing incharges.
Students presented a spectrum of cultural performances. Middle Wing staged “Shiv Aradhana,” choreographed by Vikas Kumar with Sakshi Mehra and Nowjot Kaur, while Primary Wing performed a skit on ‘Values of Grandparents’ choreographed by Swastika Thapa with Rohini Chandel, Kavita Jamwal and Rami Pathania. A special enactment highlighted the life of Late I D Soni, who dedicated over five decades to elderly care, scouting and promoting peace through Bharat Scouts & Guides and Home for the Aged.
The school honoured meritorious students with cash prizes totaling Rs 3, 13, 000. Poverty Assistance cheques of Rs 5,000 each were awarded to Kashish Sharma and Vanshika Sharma. Students securing first, second and third positions, 100 percent attendance, national-level sports achievements and JK Red Ribbon Vigil Competition awards were felicitated.
The celebration was meticulously organised with Office Incharge Vijay Dogra; Higher Secondary Wing Incharge Sudesh Rana; High Wing Incharge Veena Gupta; Middle Wing Incharge Ramanjeet Kour; and Primary Wing Incharge Suman Gupta managing various responsibilities. Kavinder Gupta highlighted the pivotal role of grandparents in shaping values and other guests praised the school management and teachers. The event concluded with the National Anthem, reflecting pride, legacy and commitment to excellence.
