JAMMU, Dec 12: Shaheen FC and Jammu United emerged winners of the quarterfinal matches by defeating Param FC and J&K Bank Academy in the ongoing 15th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament, being played at GGM Science College Ground, here today.
Today’s first quarterfinal match was played between Param FC and Shaheen FC. The match remained draw as both the teams failed to find the net in the stipulated time, followed by tie breaker system was applied wherein Shaheen FC defeated Param FC by 3 goals to 2.
For Shaheen FC, Rishab Dogra, Rohit Kumar and Sanjeev were the players who scored one each goal, while Jetinder Singh and Sattar Ali netted one each goal for Param FC.
The 2nd match was played between Jammu United and J&K Bank Academy wherein Jammu United emerged winners by 2-0 goals. It was a one sided affair as from very beginning, the Jammu United dominated the J&K Bank Academy. The first goal was secured by Jammu United through Ajay in the 32 minute, while Gurpreet netted another goal for the winning team in the 61st minute of the game and registered splendid win over the J&K Bank.
The matches were officiated by Rahul Sharma, Romesh Chander, Aman Banathia, Dheeraj Meenia, Madhav and Dil Bahadur as referees, whereas David Masih was the chief guest of the event along with Yousaf Don, Peter Sandhu, Amarjeet Singh, Satpal Singh and Narinder Gupta.
