Sehwag Academy drubs Kathua Blues by 7 wkts

JAMMU, Jan 17: Sehwag Academy defeated Kathua Blues Cricket Club by 7 wickets in the 1st Kuldip Sharma Memorial 2-Day Matches Cricket Tournament, being organized by Country Cricket Academy in collaboration with Project Model School, Janipur got underway at Gharota Cricket ground, here.
The inaugural match of this first of its kind Tournament in Jammu was played between Sehwag Cricket Academy and Kathua Blue Sports and Cricket Club.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 22/1, Sehwag Academy scored 198 runs in 76 overs, taking a lead of 71 runs. Jasvir top score with 50 runs, while Harsh contributed 33 runs to the total. Harman Singhand Jasbir Singh chipped in with 25 runs each. Left-arm spinner Ashu was the pick of the bowlers for Kathua Blues, who took 5 important wickets, while another left-arm spinner Abhi claimed 3 wickets.
Kathua Blues, in their second essay scored brisk 120 runs by losing 3 wicket and declared their innings to set a target of 50 runs for Sehwag Academy. Anuj scored unbeaten 66 runs, while Rohit contributed 21 runs. For Sehwag Academy, Jasbir Singh claimed one wicket.
Sehwag Academy chased the target easily by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Vatsal remained unbeaten on 32 runs.  Ashu of Kathua Blues was declared man of the match for his splendid all-round show.
The match was officiated by Shugal, Lakshya, Akarsh and Satyam, while the Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Vivek Sharma, former Ranji Trophy player.
12 teams are participating in this long-version matches cricket tournament for Under-14, 16 and Under-19 boys, which is being played on turf wicket.
