JAMMU, May 14: In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, Satwik Luthra secured the Silver Medal in Weightlifting event at the 7th Khelo India Youth Games held in Rajgir, Bihar, today. Representing the Union Territory of J&K, Satwik competed in the +102 kg weight category and lifted a total of 263 kg.
Satwik has been rigorously training for the past five years at the MA Stadium Weightlifting Hall under the mentorship of his coach, Aakash Virdhy. On his win, Satwik expressed deep gratitude to his coach and support system, crediting them for his success. He has now set his sights on qualifying for the Youth Olympic Games 2026, aiming to bring more laurels to the country.
It is worth mentioning that Satwik had earlier won a Silver Medal at the Youth Nationals 2024, held at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The achievement has drawn praise from several quarters, including Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, who congratulated Satwik and called his performance “inspiring” for young athletes across the Union Territory.
