JAMMU, Dec 23: Pratham Raina defeated Ritvik Gupta by 3-0 in the finals of the men’s singles, whereas Iknoor Kaur emerged winner in women’s final by defeating Ragini by 3 games to 2, here today.
The men’s final was a one sided contest with both the players giving all they had but Pratham Raina closing on the final in style to take the match and championship by 3-0. Earlier in the men’s semifinals Pratham held his nerve against Jayesh and finally went on to win by 3-1.
In other semifinal, Ritvik Gupta defeated Maanay by 3-2.
The chief guest on the occasion was Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council, who witnessed the final match and distributed the prizes amongst the winners. The chief guest also congratulated the organisers for a successful tournament wherein more than 300 participants took part.
The tournament was organised by J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under their initiative “My Youth My Pride.”
In Hops boys final (Under-11), Samar beat Saiyam by 3-1, in girls, Srishti defeated Alina by 3-0, while in cadet boys final, Ritvik trounced Gourav by 3-0 and in girls finals, Nitya beat Srishti by 3-0.
In sub junior boys final, Ritvik defeated Rudraksh by 3-1, while in girls final, Mishti trounced Nitya by 3-1, wherein in junior girls Finals (U-17), Ragini defeated Mishti by 3-1, in Junior (Under 17) boys final, Pratham beat Ritvik by 3-1, whereas in men’s final, Pratham trounced Ritvik by 3-0 and in women’s Final, Iknoor beat Ragini by 3-2. In the veteran men’s final, Amit trounced Mahesh Sharma by 3-1.
Prominent persons including Riyaz Ahmed, Nuzhat Gazala, Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, I.P Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Ashok Singh (Divisional Sports Officer), Saleem Bandey (Secretary Poonch District TT Association), Maninder Singh and others were present during the event.
