SRINAGAR, Jan 19: Weight lifter, Sairaab Firdous, was awarded as Mr Heavy Duty Kashmir in a first ever Strength Lifting Competition held here today in which around two dozen body builders of Srinagar participated.
Despite snowfall and cold wave in Kashmir, over 20 lifters took part in the competition that was held at Heavy Duty Health Club in posh locality of Jawahar Nagar.
This competition was first of its kind in which participants competed for Bench Press, Squats, Dead Lifts, Shoulder Press, One Arm Dumbell Press and Barbell Curls.
The competition was sponsored by Venky’s Food Supplements. Body builder Sairaab Firdous lifted 730 kilogramme weights in total and was adjudged as Mr Heavy Duty.
In 60-70 kg category, first, second and third place was bagged by Zahoor Ahmad, Sahil Rizwan and Happy Singh respectively.
In 75-85 kg category, the first, second and third place was bagged by Khalid Mehboob, Salmaan Bukhari and Omar Naqash respectively.
In 85-90 kg category, first and second place was bagged by Sairaab Firdous and Mohammad Salim respectively.
Former Director Remote Sensing and Environment Jammu and Kashmir Government, Mohammad Amin Kawoosa and president of the Heavy Duty club was chief guest on the occasion. He distributed prises among the best performers.
