Sainik School Nagrota lifts Sahodaya Athletics Trophy

JAMMU, Oct 28: On the third and final day of the Jammu Sahodaya Group of Schools Inter School Athletics Meet organized at Maj Somnath Sharma (PVC) Stadium of Sainik School Nagrota, the hosts emerged winners of the overall Championship Trophy, here.
Col Rajesh Kumar, Commanding Officer, 2 NCC Battalion J&K presided over the Closing Ceremony and gave away the medals and trophies to the winners.  Twenty schools in Jammu region affiliated to CBSE participated in this three day long Sports Meet in which various track and field events were organized in boys and girls categories. The hosts Sainik School Nagrota scored 260 points and topped the table with 8 Gold, 8 Silver and 4 Bronze. MHAC School Nagbani finished runner-up with a combined score of 250 points in both Boys and Girls categories. Their combined medal tally was 8 Gold, 7 Silver, 4 Bronze. Army Public School Akhnoor stood overall third with 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.
Shikha Sharma of MHAC School Nagbani was declared Best Athlete amongst Girls for winning 2 Gold in Long Jump and 800m run and a Silver in 1500m run. Cadet Sourav Kumar of Sainik School Nagrota won the Best Athlete trophy amongst Boys by winning Gold in 100m and 200m races.
Following an impressive March Past by the participating teams, the School Band presented an impressive pipe and drum display and received great applause from the audience.
Speaking on this occasion, Col Kapil Dev Koushal, Principal Sainik School Nagrota congratulated all the participants for their wholehearted involvement in making this event a grand success. The chief guest presented a special token of appreciation to the School Band.
The programme ended with National Anthem.
