Sahil, Sanjeev, Raj Kumar top in 5000 meter

JAMMU, Oct 31: Sahil Sharma of Kathua, Sanjeev Kumar of Samba and Raj Kumar Sharma of Jammu, bagged top ranks in 5000 meter under-19 during Divisional Level Inter District Athletics Meet (Boys), organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports at Jammu University grounds, here today.
Earlier, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau Director Sports University of Jammu declared athletic meet open, in presence of Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director, Department of Youth Services and Sports, Tirath Ram, organizing secretary, Sukhdev Singh, DYSSO, Udhampur, Pushpa Sharma, Manorma Sharma, Sarita Pandha, Sher Singh, Jeet Singh, Kiran Jyoti, Sunita Goel, Rattan Lal, Nirmal Singh, Sadiq Hussain and other officials of the department.
While speaking, Prof Bhau stressed upon the disciplined approach towards the sports, which reflects in the sports persons’ life.
In Shot Put under-14, Kajal Singh of Jammu, Makhan Singh of Kathua and Madan Lal of Udhampur claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In Shot Put Under 17, Gurdeep Singh of Samba, Liaquat Ali of Kathua and Ashish Sharma of Udhampur secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In Long Jump Under-14, Rajender Kumar of Jammu bagged first position, while, Amarjeet Singh of Samba and Muzafar Farooq of Udhampur claimed second and third positions respectively.
In Long Jump Under-17, Rahul Sharma of Kathua, Surinder Singh of Udhampur and Yash Pal of Jammu, secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In Long Jump Under 19, Rakesh Singh of Jammu, Mohd Shabir of Kathua and Amit Slathiaof Samba claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In Triple Jump Under-17, Yash Pal of Jammu, Ashish Kumar of Udhampur and Arjun Kumar of Samba, secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In Triple Jump Under-19, Rakesh Singh of Jammu, Abhishek Jamwal of Udhampur and Anil Singh of Samba, claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In Track Events:
100m Under-14, Rajinder Kumar of Jammu, Sajjad Ali of Samba and Shahzad Ahmed of Udhampur claimed first, second and third positions.
In 100m under-17, Rohan Din of Kathua, Anil Kumar of Samba and Inderjeet Singh of Jammu, secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In 100m Under-19, Krishan Murari of Jammu, Irshad Ali of Kathua and Amit Slathia of Samba, secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In 400m Under-14, Bushan Kumar of Samba secured first position, while, Kulbir Singh of Udhampur and Pankaj Sharma of Jammu, claimed second and third positions respectively.
In 400m Under-17, Arjun Kumar of Samba, Prabhjot Singh of Jammu and Parveen Chand of Udhampur secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In 400m Under-19, Daleep Sharma of Jammu, Sunny Deol of Samba and Raj Kumar of Kathua, claimed first, second and third positions.
In 600m Under-14, Sajid Ali of Jammu, Vinod Kumar of Reasi and Abhishek of Kathua, bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
