JAMMU, Dec 17: ADGP Armed, SM Sahai accompanied by HK Lohia, Director SSG J&K and president J&K Wushu Association inaugurated the Sanda Cup Wushu Championship at Gulshan Ground, here today.
The 3-day Championship, is being organized by J&K Wushu Association and sponsored by J&K Police.
Around 600 players from 12 districts of J&K State are participating in this mega event.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Mr Lohia and, while Ranjeet Kalra later presented the vote of thanks on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Ashutosh Sharma, Dr SM Bali, SP Zahid Manhas, SP Majid, DySP Rashid Malik and Principals of various schools of district Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that Wushu is a Chinese Martial Art and priority sports in India. Recently, Indian Wushu team bagged 6 medals with 2 silver and 4 bronze in the 12th World Championship at Malaysia and silver in the World Games at Cali in Colombia.
Today sub-junior boys weight categories were in the fray.
In Under 30-31, Nitin Singh, UDH and Bhanu Kumar, BPS bagged gold and silver medal respectively, while the bronze was claimed by Akshay Kumar, KC and Ashish Raina, UDH.
In Under-13 kg, Jaskaran Singh and Aryan Verma clinched gold and silver respectively, while Vansh Jasrotia and Arun Choudhary bagged bronze.
Below 26 gold went to Priyanshu, while the silver was claimed by Trish. The bronze medals went to Daksh and Abhinav.
Mohinder, Adnan, Devansh and Ankit claimed gold, silver and bronze medals in below 22 category respectively, while in below 16, Garvit Mahajan bagged gold, while the silver went to Nitin and the bronze medals were bagged by Saksham and Nitin.
Virat, Vivek, Kartik and Himanshu Rawat claimed gold, silver and bronze medals in below 15 respectively, while in below 18, Manik and Gourav bagged gold and silver respectively, while Dhav Sharma and Rajeev clinched bronze medals.
In below 20-25, Sarthak won gold, Krishna got silver and the bronze went to Arrav Vaid and Sujal.
