Rubina, Sarla steal show in Jammu Princess’ win; Delhi Angels log thrilling victory

JAMMU, Dec 18: Superb display of bowling by Sarla Devi and Rubina, coupled with magnificent batting show by Puja Pandey helped Jammu Princess’ register big win against Mumbai Mermaids, while Delhi Angels scripted thrilling 1-wicket victory over Chennai Sharks in the ongoing Chief Minister’s T20 Premier League, being jointly organized by J&K Police HG/CD/SDRF and State Sports Council at Parade ground here.
Rajesh Kumar, IGP SSG was the chief guest in the first match, while SP North Vinod Kumar was the guest of honour. Rafeeq Ul Hasan DIG Jammu was the chief in the second match.
The chief guests and the guests of honour were introduced with the participating teams in the presence of SSP Rashmi Wazir, SSP Shabir, Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu, Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Sandeep Kumar, Director All India Women Cricket Association, Bhanu Singh, President Bihar Women Cricket Association, DySP Hafeez, DySP Raj Pal Singh, Sunil Sambyal, Anand Tripathi and RP Singh.
Earlier, in the first match, Jammu Princess defeated Mumbai Mermaids by 9 wickets. Batting first, Mumbai Mermaids bundled out for 74 runs in 18.3 overs. Lali (29) and Jyoti (14) were the main scorers. From Jammu Princess, Sarla Devi was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 wickets, while Rubina scalped 4 wickets including a hat-trick. Muskan claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Jammu Princess chased the target in 14 overs for the loss of 1 wicket with Puja Pandey (48) and Muskan (12) being the main scorers. Rubina was adjudged as the woman of the match for splendid bawling show.
In another match, Delhi Angels defeated Chennai Sharks by 1 wicket.
Batting first, Chennai Sharks scored 124 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets, Suva Lakshmi top scored with 51 runs, while Sunita and Sumaya contributed 21 and 19 runs respectively. From bowling side, Rajni, Payal and Veena claimed 1 wicket each. Delhi Angels chased the target in an exciting contest in 19.4 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Tanishta (28), Madulata (18) and Sanjana (10) were the main scorers. From bowling side, Sunita claimed 3 wickets, while Khushboo bagged 2 and Kouser 1 wicket. Tanisha was declared as the women of the match.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Kolkata Flamingos will lock horns with Punjab Birds at 9.30 am, while Rajasthan Scorchers will take on Delhi Angels at 1.30 pm.
