KATHUA, Apr 6: Royal Challenger Kathua thrashed Kathua Super Kings by 21 runs in the inaugural tie of the Tawi Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Tawi Organizing Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) at Sports stadium here today.
Electing to bat first, after winning the toss, Royal Challenger Kathua scored 134 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Satnam Singh played well and chipped in 40 runs including four balls towards the fence, while Naresh also contributed 32 runs.
For Kathua Super Kings side, Shalu was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 3 wickets by conceding 18 runs in his four overs spell, while, Arun claimed one wicket.
In the second inning, Kathua Super Kings failed to chase the target and bundled out at 113 runs for all out in 17.5 overs. Boon was the top scorer with 18 runs including four boundaries, while Kapil chipped in 13 runs.
For Royal Challenger Kathua, Satnam Singh was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets, while Munish also proved his worth and took 2 wickets.
Satnam Singh of Royal Challenger Kathua was adjudged as man of the match and was awarded with Rs 500 cash prize and a trophy.
The match was officiated by Mohan and Prabhat, while Kulbhushan Singh maintained the scorecard and Kulbhushan Sharma was the commentator.
Earlier, DC Excise Dr Mushtaq declared the tournament open in presence of RK Bhat, Principal, PTS Kathua, Davinder Kumar, Owner, Satyam Cement Kathua, Dr Jitender Singh, Chairman, Tawi Organising Committee, Shashi Pal, president, Om Pal, senior vice president, Rattan Bharti, vice president, locals and sports lovers.
While speaking, Dr Mushtaq asked the participants to play the game with true sportsmanship.
RK Bhat while speaking impressed upon the gathering to participate in the sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Stadium XI Kathua will clash with RCC, Chadwal, whereas Krishna Cricket Club will lock horns with Satyam Cricket Club.
