JAMMU, June 26: Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering & Technology (MBSCET), Jammu, has taken a significant step towards promoting innovation by inaugurating a Research & Consultancy Centre on its campus. The initiative aligns with the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (2020), launched by the Government of India and supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to boost research activities in technical institutions.
The centre was inaugurated by Mahant Manjit Singh, Sole Trustee of the college, in the presence of Chairman Gurnam Singh, Advisor Lakhbir Singh Bawa and several faculty members. The project was developed under the guidance of newly appointed Principal Dr. Nitin Ghawghawe.
Dr. Ajay Damral, Dean (Research & Consultancy) and Centre In-charge, detailed the planned research focus, including renewable energy technologies, white coal, solar PV applications for small gadgets and household water treatment units. He emphasized the centre’s evolving nature and its aim to address practical, need-based challenges through innovation.
The initiative offers students from departments like Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, ECE, and IT hands-on exposure to emerging technologies. Hardip Singh Gill (Dean, Students Welfare), Prof. Ishpal Singh, and Prof. Gupta played key roles in the centre’s establishment. Faculty and staff joined the launch, marking a milestone in MBSCET’s academic growth.
