REASI, Oct 9: The Reasi Weightlifting Championship 2025-26 concluded with great enthusiasm at the Indoor Sports Stadium, here today. The event was inaugurated by Harbhajan Singh, President, J&K Weightlifting Association, along with Gurmez Singh, General Secretary, Reasi Weightlifting Association. Vishal Singh Jamwal (DySP Reasi) graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed medals among the winners. Around 50 lifters from various areas of District Reasi showcased their strength and skills in the competition.
In the girls’ category, Priya Kumari, Manvi Devi and Nisha Devi secured top positions in the 44 Kg (Youth) weight class. In the 48 Kg category, Priyanka Devi won gold, followed by Anuradha and Robia Bibi. In the 53 Kg category, Akshara clinched first place, while Naina Devi and Sukriti Bhagat followed. Rashi Sayal emerged winner in the 69 Kg category.
In the boys’ section, Vikrant Singh and Anirudh Sharma secured top spots in the 49 Kg class, while Aditya Thakur and Rupesh Gupta were the top two in 55 Kg. In 61 Kg, Siddharth Thakur, Shivam Kumar Singh, and Avinash Mahajan claimed medals. Nitin Singh, Ansh Thakur and Arpit Mahajan led the 67 Kg group, while Yasir Hussain won the 73 Kg category.
Yudhvir Singh, General Secretary, J&K Weightlifting Association, delivered the vote of thanks, commending the efforts of all athletes and organizers. The event was supported by the J&K Sports Council and attended by dignitaries including Dilip Singh, Dhanraj Singh, Bharti Devi, Naman Singh, Manjeet Singh, Aejaz Ahmed Mir (Incharge Reasi Indoor Complex), Natasha Sharma (Gymnastics Coach), and Arpita Mahajan (Football Coach).
