Reasi District Lawn Tennis Open C’ship begins

REASI, Mar 11: The inaugural Reasi District Lawn Tennis Open Championship commenced today at the Lawn Tennis Complex of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Sports Complex in Katra.
The event was officially inaugurated by Ashok Kumar, Senior Vice President of the J&K Lawn Tennis Association and former Director of Sports at SMVDSB, who emphasized the role of sports in fostering community spirit and healthy competition.
The opening day featured exciting matches across four categories: Men’s Above 40 Years, Men’s Below 40 Years, Women’s Open, and Men’s Doubles. A total of 26 players participated, representing local clubs from Katra, SMVDSB, Railways Protection Force, SMVD University, and Jammu District.
In Men’s Singles, Sidarth defeated Parveen Giri (6-3), Sourab Singh beat Mohit Sharma (6-3), Vinamar Gupta overcame Mohit Sharma (6-3), Pratham Arora won against Piyush Kumar (6-2), Sanjay Kumar defeated Anmol Sharma (6-4), and Shourayaveer beat Utsav Pandey (6-3). In the Women’s Round Robin, Palavi Parihar defeated Shalwi Kumari (6-2), Vinamarta overcame Shalwi Kumari (6-3), and Palavi defeated Vinamarta (6-4).
The Men’s Doubles saw Sanjay Kotwal’s team overpower Sagar Singh and Vishwas (6-2), while Rinka Kapoor and Nishant Sharma defeated Saksham Amla and Cinamar Gupta (6-3).
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Sanjiv Kotwal, Jai Deep, Ekta Kumari, Rahul Dutta, Sudarshan Sharma and parents of junior players. Arun Badu, Working President of District Reasi, delivered the welcome address.
