JAMMU, Sept 25: With 5.50 points Rakesh Kumar Jena of Odisha was leading after round 7 of the 41st National Sub Junior Open Chess Championship, while Aakanksha Hagawane of Maharashtra was leading in the 32nd National Sub Junior Girls Chess Championship, being organized by All J&K Chess Association at Jalsa Retreat, Domana, here.
Twenty six States drawn from the country are taking part in the Championship, wherein 184 players (including 77 girls) alongwith 150 coaches and managers are participating.
While Rakesh Kumar Jena will take on Iniyan P. of Tamil Nadu, Hagawane will be facing Ghosh Samriddhaa of West Bengal.
J&K girls Meenal Gupta and Arushi Kotwal with 3.50 points each will be taking on Abirama Srinithi of Tamil Nadu and Isha Sharma of Karnataka respectively.
Prominent among others who have qualified for round 8 41st National Sub Jr Open Chess Championship included Mitrabha Guha of West Bengal, Rajdeep Sarkar of West Bnegal, Neelash Saha of West Bengal, Dhananjay of Chhattisgarh, Raghunandan Kaumandur Srihari of Karnataka and Nitish Belukar of Goa.
In 32nd National Sun Jr Girls Chess Championship, prominent players who are leading after round 7 included Priyanka K of West Bengal, Priyanka Nutakki of Andhra Pradesh, Harshini A of Tamil Nadu and Chitlange Sakshi of Maharashtra.
