Rajasthan edges out J&K to win 69th NSG U-14 Cricket title

JAMMU, Jan 24: Jammu and Kashmir’s U-14 boys cricket team fought valiantly but settled for Silver after a narrow 13-run defeat to Rajasthan in the final of the 69th National School Games (NSG) U-14 Boys Cricket Tournament, hosted by the Government of Rajasthan under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). The tournament featured 30 teams from across the country.
J&K’s journey was impressive, with a league-stage victory over hosts Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat, followed by a 5-wicket win against Telangana in the pre-quarterfinals and a hard-fought win over Delhi in the quarterfinals.
In the final, Rajasthan posted 140/5 in 15 overs, with Pratul Sharma top-scoring 46, while Faisal Amin and Shaid Ali took two wickets each for J&K. In reply, J&K managed 127/6, with Owais Ishaq scoring 36 and Haris Bin Rehman 32. Rajasthan’s Arslan claimed 3 wickets. Faisal Amin Pandith of J&K was named the tournament’s Best Bowler.
The closing ceremony saw trophies presented by chief guest Hari Ram Ranwa, State President of Kisan Morcha. The team was accompanied by Coach Suresh Singh and Manager Adil Hussain Mir, representing the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K. Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, congratulated the squad for the landmark achievement.
