JAMMU, Dec 5: A splendid show with bat and ball by Puneet Wattal helped Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar to drub J&K Secretariat Cricket Club by 7 wickets to advance in to the next round of the ongoing All India T20 Cricket Championship at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K Secretariat Cricket Club scored a modest total of 104 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Mehraj-ud-Din was the top scorer with 26 runs, while Imtiyaz Ahmed and Rayees Ahmed contributed 16 and 11 runs respectively. For RCC, Puneet Wattal took 5 important wickets by conceding 22 runs in his 4 overs, while skipper Kuldeep Kumar scalped 4 wickets by giving away 10 runs in his 4 overs.
In reply, RCC rode on a superb knock of 53 runs off 42 balls, studded with 6 delectable boundaries by Puneet Wattal to surpass the required target in 13.4 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Ishan Gupta and Ahatshyam contributed 13 runs each. For J&K Secretariat Cricket Club, Mehraj-ud-Din took 2 wickets, while Yaqoob claimed one. For his brilliant all-round display, Puneet Wattal was adjudged as man of the match. Vikas Bali, Dayal Singh and Virender were the match officials, while the Tournament is being held under the supervision of Asrar-ul-Haq and Kulbir Manhas.
